A Bonanza of Paintball Comic Strips!

Wow it is amazing what you can find when digging back through ancient zip drives. This paintball comic strip has appeared under several different names, because my self syndicated strip that had run in several daily newspapers was named Cold Coffee, so for a brief time I called the paintball strip the same. Then it was Cold Coffee – Psychedelic Squirrels and finally just Psychedelic Squirrels.

These strips represent the very first few I ever created specifically for paintball, as you can tell from the general lack of masks, just goggles (Which was common in the early days of paintball) they were created almost 20 years ago.

I am not the best person at keeping around my old work, in fact I usually hate seeing it. Every day I get better and it is often painful to look back at stuff I created years ago. However I did really enjoy creating this strip, SO it is with great joy, that I stumbled across these comic strips and now bring them back to the world wide web!

This first strip, re-released in 2010 was originally created in 1992, it very well might be the first paintball strip ever released via the web, but I am not sure on that point.

The very first paintball comic strip, ever

I will be re-publishing each of the other strips I found over the next couple of days.

Ghosts On The Boardwalk” is the 2nd in a new online paintball video series called Artifact, produced by Planet Eclipse, in association with Deep Elm Records and Disconnected Media.

This episode follows San Diego Dynasty in their quest to regain their dominance in the first stops of the PSP & NPPL Professional Paintball circuits.Dynasty has not won he Surf City Open in Huntington Beach, California, in five years. Huntington Beach is an event Dynasty once dominated.Paintball Video Ghosts on the Boardwalk

As with anything from Planet Eclipse this video is high quality through and through. I love that Matty Marshall does the narrating. The first time I remember him doing so was in the “Sunday Driver” movie and he made that video have a deeper impact with his words and insight into the psyche of the pro paintball player.

It is Pouring down rain, or as my Aussie friends say “Its pissing”. Which sucks, as today I was supposed to go play paintball with my friends in the picture here. It was a reunion of sorts for the birthdays of Mike’s son (middle guy in orange hat) and me (guy to the far left). But it has been delayed due to really crap weather.

So the gear gets put back away, and my lonely paintball guns must wait for a sunnier day to break their current hibernation. Oh what sorrow.I haven’t played with this group of guys in over 5 years. Daren Regazza the short dude, went of and played for the Naughty Dogs, Billy Roser (one in the gray shirt) did as well, until he had a child, then he got very serious about career and family. Mike and I played together for a few more years as serial paintball whores. Ryan (far right) I haven’t seen or heard from him in some time. He is the luckiest basterd on the planet. EVERY major prize in raffle drawing, he won. It was like some kind of reverse curse regarding high value items and little tickets.

Hopefully the rain only caused a delay in the paintball reunion. This was the last group of guys I played with as a team who felt special… It’s hard to describe, but you spend 3 days a week practicing together, and 6 weeks a year on the road, in airports, hotels, taxis and restaurants with a group of guys and it almost becomes a family. I imagine being in a band together is much the same.

My Paintball guns may be lonely but at least they are dry, unlike everything else.

Back, well, a very long time ago, in the paintball and online worlds, I had a Paintball comic strip. Psychedelic Squirrels, was it’s name. It appeared in a couple of the paintball magazines for a while. Then, well it took too much time and I was busy trying to make a living. So it faded away… Now I am going to resurrect the strip. Along with Multicampers, my airsoft comic strip, it will be put out on TheFunniez.com.Not sure how often I will be updating either of these strips, but I will make sure to let everyone here know all about it ;-)

Multicampers an Airsoft Comic Strip

On to the main purpose of this post. I have just added a page to Paintball Gun Man .com that covers the Best Paintball websites Online. this is my honest opinion of the 4 most important and the one soon to be really fabulous paintball websites that are online today. Of course this is my own opinion, and nothing but. However this opinion is based on more than 20 years playing paintball, and someone who has worked in the industry as a field owner, promoter, team captain and wholesaler. So take it for what that is worth.

Paintball Gun Man in Vegas

Paintball Gun Man LIVES!

Paintball Gun Man.com is long past due. A decade ago I ran oddballsports.com then 24-7paintball.com and later paintballbuzz.com. Each of those sites was around for several years, but were all about my paintball team at the time or a paint ball business I was running. So as those businesses and teams destinies flowed, so did the various sites. If only I had held onto several of those sites rather than letting them fade away, ah but hindsigt is always 20/20 and there is no way to revisit the past.

Now, Paintball Gun Man.com is devoted to my favorite part of the great paintball adventure, GEAR. I love paintball guns, the technology, the upgrades, the design, everything there is about the Gear is… awesome. I have always been a gear hound, and with paintball the addiction leaped to new heights. At one time I had over 20 top end paintball guns, 50 barrels and untold number of masks, jerseys, hoppers, gloves etc. I like aspects of most paintball guns but my all time favorite is still the Worr Games KarnivOrr Autococker. you’ll notice that just about every picture of me playing, I am using one variant of the autococker or another. However in my time I have owned most of the top paintball markers, from the Phantom to Dark Angels and Ego’s.

From time to time I might throw some tactics advice in, and point to other sites. I also like to post interesting paintball videos, but what I really want to accomplish with Paintball Gun Man.com, is researching and displaying the best paintball equipment available in the world today. And I don’t mean just the high end paint hoses. I will be creating videos where I will give my opinions on quality, durability, maintenance, features,  you name it. And because I am a great guy, I’ll point you to the best deals that I find, and any contests or give-aways I come across.

And yes that is a picture of me, it was taken at the 2002 Las Vegas PanAM and is courtesy of Warpig.com. Bill Mills from Warpig took many pictures of me throughout the years and has always had great content. If you don’t already know Warpig.com you need to go spend some time there.

I hope that my paintball gun reviews, videos and content are something that you find compelled to return to, and frequent Paintball Gun Man.com.
